As part of the comprehensive service that Southern Neurology provides, we also participate in investigator driven and industry sponsored clinical trials. This provides our patients with the opportunity to have access to potential new therapies for a number of neurological conditions.

Clinical Trials Participation

As part of its comprehensive service, Southern Neurology participates in investigator-driven and industry-sponsored clinical trials, giving patients access to potential new therapies. These trials are supported by pharmaceutical partners to cover the costs of research, staff, facilities, and procedures.

Eligibility & Participation

We are involved in a number of current and upcoming international multi-centre trials. Patients interested in participating will be assessed and managed by our neurologists to ensure they meet the required criteria for each study.

Ultrasound-Guided Procedures

Southern Neurology provides advanced ultrasound-guided diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, delivered with precision and expertise. Our experienced team uses real-time imaging to enhance accuracy, safety, and treatment outcomes, supporting a wide range of neurological and pain-related conditions.

Neuropsychology Services

Neuropsychology is a specialised area of psychology which focuses on diagnosing and managing conditions which impact the brain. As neuropsychologists, a key area of practice involves cognitive assessments.

Cognitive Assessment

Generally, a cognitive assessment ranges from 1-3 hours and involves testing aspects of brain function including memory, language, attention, thinking, IQ and executive skills. Before the assessment, there is usually a 1 hour initial consultation where we collect relevant information such as medical history and background information. After the assessment, there is an opportunity to discuss test results as well as to provide recommendations and next steps.

Physiotherapy for Headaches and Migraine

It is now commonly understood that headaches and migraines are caused by a sensitised nervous system, specifically hypersensitivity of the brainstem region. As brainstem sensitisation reaches a certain threshold it will bring on a headache or migraine episode.

Specialised Headache Physiotherapy

While there are many factors that can increase this sensitivity, the upper neck is often a major contributor. Rob Wallis is an experienced physiotherapist who specialises in The Watson Headache Approach which is used to identify a problem with the upper neck and then treat this problem to decrease brainstem sensitivity and can complement pharmacological approaches to headache and migraine management.
